The Paleo Circuit: Coming Soon
The Paleo Circuit is a gift from Dr. Fryer to his patients. Feedback from our patients is taken very seriously at The Balanced Spine. Overwhelming requests for more wellness information coming from Dr. Fryer's perspective, not from modern media, have led us to develop The Paleo Circuit.
The Paleo Circuit™, exclusively developed by Dr. Sean Fryer & Dr. Traci Szemkus, is a circuit of stations that demonstrate, educate and train our patients on the core requirements of human health: Eating, Moving and Thinking.
With the exception of performing a NUCCA adjustment on yourself, The Balanced Spine truly believes the other required areas of health can be practiced by our patients, independent of our services, after they understand the requirements. That is the sole purpose of The Paleo Circuit.
After understanding the requirements, our patients will be able to make educated decisions on the types of exercise programs they want to continue on to, dietary guidelines they want to follow in their day-to-day lives and, often overlooked in healthcare, our patients will learn to think in a more positive, productive state after they experience the power of The Paleo Circuit.
Why does the The Paleo Circuit focus on Eating, Moving and Thinking?
Our bodies have an inborn, natural ability to maintain wellness as long as it has all the tools and building blocks to do so. What are those? They come in 3 forms: Food/ nutrients, Movement/exercise, and Balanced thoughts. It’s when we are deficient in one supply that we begin to lose complete health.Keep in mind the body is strong and innately smart. The body will keep on keeping on with what it has to work with. This is called adaptation. The body adapts to the deficiency and works as best it can without—survival mode. If the deficiency, whether it’s in nutrition, exercise, or balanced thought (i.e. mental stress) is prolonged, then we start to notice symptoms or pain or high blood pressure or high cholesterol, etc. So let’s stock up on what we need for health and ultimately a great quality of life!
1. Food/Nutrients:
The best come straight from raw and unprocessed food like fresh fruit and vegetables. Veggies retain and provide the most vitamins and nutrients when not cooked, except for broccoli—our body can digest broccoli better if its lightly cooked (best steamed) because of its fibrous make up. You, literally, are what you eat! If you eat junk that is all your body has as a building block. And if you build with weak blocks you get a weak body.
2. Movement/ Exercise:
Movement stimulates blood flow. Blood flow circulates or transports the nutrients to all the cells of our body. Movement exercises the heart which promotes strong, efficient pumping action to make circulation of blood flow more effortless. Movement circulates brain fluid/ cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to our brain, spinal cord, and spinal discs. When we sit all day we suffocate our brain and discs. Movement (especially weight-bearing such as walking/ running) stimulates healthy bone building. Chances are that you are at The Balanced Spine because of an injury or specific concern with your health.The Paleo circuit is unique because we have considered the needs of our patient base and have modifications to help you gain the strength you need. Believe it or not, how you think affects your physiology including heart function, circulation, hormones, and bone density. Prolonged stress (mental or emotional) leads to break down in the body as we were never meant to be under constant stress. Stress signals the body to go into survival mode by shutting down all growth and repair and nurturing processes such as digestion of food. When these processes are shut off all the time the body gets weaker and weaker and breaks down through a loss of function. Have you ever thought about how most people are stressed constantly and many people suffer from acid reflux or other digestive problems?. Healthy stress management, laughter, positive thoughts, supportive relationships and rest bring us closer to balance and increase growth and repair.
